Weekly Weigh In | Week #12 | Diet Soda Is EVIL! #NSNation
This is the end of week 12 on Nutrisystem!
Let me start this off by tooting my own horn… I rocked this week!
Let me tell you something else, diet soda pop is evil! I will explain…
I’ve been telling you all for a couple of weeks now how I have cut myself down to 1 diet soda pop a day, this week was the strongest I’ve held myself to it and there were a few things that I have noticed while doing this.
This is the first week that I have not been starving! I’ve been doing some research on this new found glory and have learned that studies over the years have shown obesity and overweight patterns are higher with people who drink diet pop.
In 2005, Sharon Fowler and her colleagues from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio presented eight years of research data that explored the link between obesity risk and soft drinks. According to the WebMD summary of the study:
Fowler’s team looked at seven to eight years of data on 1,550 Mexican-American and non-Hispanic white Americans aged 25 to 64. Of the 622 study participants who were of normal weight at the beginning of the study, about a third became overweight or obese.
For regular soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:
- 26% for up to 1/2 can each day
- 30.4% for 1/2 to one can each day
- 32.8% for 1 to 2 cans each day
- 47.2% for more than 2 cans each day.
For diet soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:
- 36.5% for up to 1/2 can each day
- 37.5% for 1/2 to one can each day
- 54.5% for 1 to 2 cans each day
- 57.1% for more than 2 cans each day.
For each can of diet soft drink consumed each day, a person’s risk of obesity went up 41%.
There were two days this week that I had craved the diet pop, Tuesday I had two cans of diet pop and today I gave in to 3 cans. Would you know that those two days were much harder for me to stay on plan? I was craving every sweet thing in existence and though I did stay on track.. it was really hard!
So this was one of the best weeks I’ve had since starting Nutrisystem! My energy level is higher, I’m feeling better and I’m excited to keep moving forward. This diet pop thing is a revolution in my mind and I’m going to continue moving forward with 1 can or less a day to see what happens.
On to the weigh in…. I weighed in at 208 Lbs! Down another 1 Lbs this week
This is the longest losing streak I’ve had in a long time and I really feel like I’m making movement in the right direction. Can’t wait to report in to you all next week
