Not to brag or anything (okay, maybe to brag a little), but I’ve been doing VERY well when it comes to my weight loss and fitness goals! I’ve accomplished so much, by losing 24 pounds so far and even dropping one pants size! While working out plays a HUGE part in my success, eating healthy does as well.
The part of eating healthy I find the hardest is choosing what to eat when I’m on the go. Eating out can be so tempting when you’re out and about and don’t have anything handy when hunger hits. Lately, I’ve been keeping V8 protein bars and shakes nearby for those moments of temptation. Not only are they super nutritional… they give me tons of energy before a workout.
Shakes: 12 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, quarter cup of vegetables, no high fructose corn syrup and as much calcium and Vitamin D as a glass of milk
Bars: 10 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, no high fructose corn syrup and a quarter cup of vegetables in each bar
The shakes are recommended as a breakfast or morning snack, or as a mid-afternoon snack. The bars are great as a snack between meals or as a sweet after dinner treat. I’ve found it handy to drink a shake on the way to the gym in the morning, and grab a bar on my way to get the kids. I have really grown to enjoy that extra spike of energy they give me going into my workouts too.
My favorite flavor by far has been the chocolate pomegranate. V8 takes soy, nuts, oats and spices and combines them together to make their yummy bars! The shakes blend dairy, soy, pea, brown rice, and quinoa proteins with sweet honey and sugar!
