How I Make Spring Cleaning Fun for the Kids!

It never fails. Every year I go on a mission to get our house spic and span from top to bottom. A mission that I lovingly refer to as “spring cleaning”. I love the smell of clean! The feeling when all the dust, dirt, and grime that has collected in the house throughout the cold winter months is finally purged, and finally it just feels… fresh.

Apparently, my family doesn’t agree. Every single time I announce that I’m looking forward to embarking on my spring cleaning mission (with my semi-psychotic clean crazed mommy eyes, of course), I’m met with grunts and groans from my little tribe. Even my Husband doesn’t seem to be near as excited about this quest as I so clearly am! Every. Single. Year.

This year, however, that all changes!

This year my family will be just as excited about tackling spring cleaning as I am! If there’s one thing I’ve noticed about my family… it’s that they LOVE to have FUN! That’s why spring cleaning is so unappealing to them. It’s work. Nothing fun about it! I’m planning on changing that definition this time around.

Here’s how I plan on making spring cleaning a family affair this year!

Map Out A Zone

Every family member should have their very own zone in the home that they are in charge of cleaning. Whether it’s the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, or living area… every family member should know which area they are in charge of!

Round up the Tools

Tools are important in making spring cleaning enjoyable. It’s frustrating to attempt to clean something, only to have your paper towel fall apart or your cleaning spray leave streaks. This year I’m all stocked up on the heavy duty essentials!

Viva® Vantage® paper towels that will stand up against even the most undesirable of clean up jobs like stovetops and patio furniture! They can also easily clean dishes, and are gentle enough to wipe faces and hands if needed, Cottonelle® Toilet Paper Double Rolls and Scott® 1000 Bathroom Tissue to keep the bathrooms well stocked and efficient! I’ve even got sturdy totes to help transport these tools from one room to the next. Gloves will help protect our hands from the things we don’t really want to touch (don’t act like you don’t have those areas too!).

Bonus tip: I grab all of my Kimberly-Clark cleaning products at Walmart, to get the most bang for my buck.

Turn some music on and make cleaning fun! Get the entire family dancing and having a good time! This makes the time fly by quickly, and it seem more like fun than a chore! I even make a game of it, and offer prizes for the best cleaned zones!
