GroVia Hybrid Shell & Organic Soakers from FluffyRump Make Cloth Diapering Easy!

Have you ever been intimidated to try a new kind of cloth diaper?

The first time I walked into a cloth diapering store I saw a lot of GroVia cloth diapers. I was shy, and passed it up when all I saw was the shell. I didn’t know how an absorbent layer was supposed to stay in inside or if I could even use it with prefolds. Too many questions had lead me to put off trying a hybrid diaper.

What is an AI2 Cloth Diaper?

An all in two diaper is a waterproof cloth diaper shell that allows absorbent soakers to be snapped inside. If you check back to my cloth diapering 101 post you will see how I talked more about this.

This was my first time trying an AI2 (all in two). I did some reading and research to learn more about the fabrics and designs of this cloth diaper. After reading such great things about the GroVia, I decided to give this diaper from FluffyRump.com a try.

Here are a few reasons of why you might like the GroVia Hybrid:

  • Can be used with one time use Bio Soakers or the reusable organic soaker pad
  • Great for those who are unable to wash cloth diapers regularly
  • Perfect for daycares who don’t want to deal with messy cloth diapers
  • Great option for those who are unsure about cloth diapering

 GroVia Cotton Soaker Pads
The first thing I noticed about the GroVia Organic Cotton Soaker Pads was how squishy and soft they are.

At first glace, the soakers look like simple cotton pieces. I was surprised to find TPU on the backside of the soakers, TPU is a layer of water resistant fabric that helps to keep soil inside the soaker. This definitely made sense to me and made me feel better about using this diaper. I also liked the snaps that are placed at the top and the bottom of the soaker so it doesn’t move all around in the shell.

Because the Organic Cotton Soaker Pads are so absorbent they can take a while to dry, much like an AIO diaper would. Fortunately, you can wash and dry the soakers while continuing to use the same shell (as long as it didn’t get messed in!) saving money and headache.

baby wearing cloth diaperHere was my experience with messy diapers: Each time B wore the Grovia Shell and Organic Cotton Soaker Pad he pooed. Because it was so messy, both the shell and soakers had to be washed. I was okay with having to wash both pieces. Because the fit of the shell was so good, it contained the mess. Job well done, shell!

The shell adjusts in size very nicely. I was able to snap it down small enough to fit an 8 Lb. baby. However, when snapped down into the small size you might consider using the smaller soaker pads as the One Size Organic Cotton Soaker Pads are too big for the shell.

I snapped it to the medium setting for B and it was a good fit, and will continue to fit him even unsnapped for the largest setting.

B and I love the Bicycle print of this Grovia Hybrid Shell. He’s recently acquired a fascination of bikes and motorcycles and I knew he would love this. The yellow is so pretty and it’s perfect for gender neutrality. We are excited to have the GroVia in our cloth diaper collection and look forward to using with baby #2 as well.
