What is “healthing”?
I recently learned about a new initiative that Lysol has put together, Healthing. This is an idea that is centered around the idea of keeping families as healthy as possible.
Let’s go beyond the common tips for staying healthy. Lysol’s vision is to create products that will kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria, providing functional cleaning products to help keep your family healthy and thriving.
The First Step : Differences between disinfecting and cleaning.
Both of these are important, don’t get me wrong. It’s good to know the difference between the two as disinfecting and cleaning both play a role in making the “healthing” initiative vision a reality.
Cleaning your house is basically the process of organization, dusting and wiping down of common every day objects. To disinfect, this will kill germs that are on commonly touched objects; such as doorknobs, counters, toys, etc. By disinfecting, this will help contain bacteria and viruses and keep them from spreading to multiple family members.
It’s the little things that we do to make a difference
Small changes in our hygiene routines and cleaning habits can make big impacts on our health. While we are in the midst of one of the worst cold and flu seasons, let’s make the choice to practice “healthing” as we bounce into Spring.
- Don’t let spring cleaning overwhelm you – take it one room at a time and stock up on products that will help you to get the job done effectively, including LYSOL® products, paper towels, sponges, and trash bags.
- Don’t forget to disinfect places that you don’t see or think about often, like the door knobs, cabinet handles or sink drains.
- Remember to practice proper hand washing as well after you clean, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer. Hand washing is the single most important thing you can do to prevent illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- Use a disinfectant product, like LYSOL® Disinfecting Wipes, to help ensure you’re killing germs as you clean, and think beyond the usual places. Be sure to clean even the smallest surfaces, such as light switches.
To help spread the word about “healthing”, Lysol and television personality Giuliana Rancic have partnered together to visit YMCA’s in select markets across the country. They will be demonstrating “healthing” and will provide attendees with hands on education about the Lysol products that will help make “healthing” an easier task.
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for LYSOL®. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.
