While it’s important to think about giving back throughout the entire year, Christmas time seems to stand out as one of the most perfect times to reach out. During the holidays, many wish lists include toys for children, electronics for teens, but what about new moms and organizations who help teen moms?
I know a family who just recently had a baby, and things like these basic baby essentials would mean the world to them at Christmas time. Because of this, I’ve joined with Johnson’s in the More Hands More Hearts initiative.
What is the More Hands More Hearts Initiative?
On December 2, JOHNSON’S® will launch More Hands, More Hearts™ to donate both essential resources and a special grant to Save the Children® to help moms worldwide ensure that their babies thrive. Hudson will have hands-on involvement on #GivingTuesday, helping assemble baby care basics to distribute to needy families alongside JOHNSON’S® employees. Learn more and support the cause at facebook.com/johnsonsbaby.
It was difficult to pick the right place, person, to make a donation to this year. So many families need help. But the one family that I chose for donation has had a rough time. They recently experienced the birth of their first child, the lose of loved one and financial instability.
As I made my baby care package for the family, I chose items that were specific to their needs. The newborn baby is attached to his momma, and while I don’t blame him, it has made times difficult around the house and out traveling. For this reason I shopped Walmart.com and purchased one of my favorite carriers, the Boba.
Also included is a nice warm receiving blanket and some of the basic essentials from Johnson’s. You know, the things that we go through like water.
I encourage you all to get out there too, put together a baby care kit for a family in need and make a donation. The feeling of helping others is indescribable and there are so many parents who could really use this.
HOW CAN YOU JOIN THE MORE HANDS MORE HEARTS INITIATIVE?
- Create a baby care kit for a family or organization in need. Start with the essentials when creating your baby care kit. Visit Walmart and pick up some of the basic items that we go through so quickly. Some of those items would be like Johnson’s shampoo, baby lotion, diaper cream, diapers, etc. If you need more inspiration, visit JOHNSON’S Facebook page for lots of great ideas.
- Increase your donation for free! Take a photo and donate it to Johnson & Johnson through their Facebook app. For every photo donated, Johnson & Johnson will donate $1 to Save the Children on behalf of the HEALTHY ESSENTIALS program.
- Use the hashtag #MoreHandsMoreHearts to share how you are giving back and inspire others.
- Join us tomorrow Tuesday, December 9th, at 2pm EST for a Johnson’s #GivingTuesday twitter party! RSVP here : http://vite.io/themotherhood
