Things to do in Kansas City : Great Pumpkin Fest at Worlds of Fun

The fall season in Kansas City is one of my favorite times of year. The pumpkin patches open up, the trees start to turn colors, the weather turns cooler and I find that this is the perfect time to create traditions and get outside with my children.

This fall, we kicked things off with a visit to Worlds of Fun!

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Charlie Brown’s The Great Pumpkin and the ultimate fall festival at Worlds of Fun! We attend this festival every year and each time it exceeds our expectations.

The Great Pumpkin Fest is a daytime event that is held on Saturday and Sunday, each weekend, through October 30th. This festival is for the little ones! Not for the ones who like to be scared.. Halloween Haunt is the much-scarier experience and comes out after 5pm on Saturdays.

There are several activities that have been set up for the little ones during the Great Pumpkin Fest. One of them being the hay bale maze. Snoopy is surrounded by hay bales and it’s up to your children to find their way in to get him!

My kid’s favorite activity was the pumpkin patch. Mainly because the pumpkins were free and they could pick any pumpkin they wanted! They were excited to look at all of the different pumpkins, some different in color, some different with their stems. Both kids picked out the most perfect pumpkin to take home from the event.

On our way to the trick-or-treat event, we ran into Snoopy and Charlie Brown! We forgot our costumes that day, but these characters were dressed perfectly. It really set the theme and got my kids excited for Halloween.

The weather here in Kansas City is so unpredictable, one minute it’s hot, the next minute it’s raining and the next it’s 40 degrees.. you can experience this all in one day.

When we visited Worlds of Fun, it was rather warm. I loved the activities that they had set up in side! It was a great relief from the sun. At Sally’s Creepy Crafts, the kids crafted their own pumpkins while cooling down.

The kids had a crazy good time! There was so much to do, beyond what I shared.. all of our favorite rides were opened and the park was themed from top to bottom. World’s of Fun always does a great job of making the Great Pumpkin Fest an event that the entire family can enjoy.
