Vanilla Cupcakes with Nutella Frosting Recipe

February 5th is World Nutella Day!
We are celebrating World Nutella Day with a Nutella frosting recipe. YUM!

We picked up some cute Valentine’s Day cupcake decorations at the store and decided to make some vanilla cupcakes with butter cream frosting. Baking is always a fun activity to do with the kids, and they love to help by adding the little candy decorations.

Little did I know, February 5th is World Nutella Day! So our plans were changed a little bit and we ditched the butter cream frosting to try out a Nutella frosting recipe.

Nutella is a Hazelnut spread, which is a common tree nut and an allergen in my son. Because he couldn’t enjoy Nutella, we made him a few plain butter cream cupcakes to decorate all by himself. He loved having special cupcakes that were only for him! The rest of us enjoyed a Nutella cupcake and packed up the leftovers for my husband’s work.

So the Nutella frosting recipe is so easy to make. Here is the recipe that a friend gave me, it turned out to be so tasty!

Ingredients

• 2 Sticks – Unsalted butter at room temp
• 2/3 cup – Nutella
• 2 cups – Powered sugar
• 2 Tbsp – Heavy whipping cream
• 1 Tsp – Vanilla Extract
• 1/4 Tsp – Salt

Directions

Mix together the butter and powered sugar until well blended, a stand mixer would work best. Add the Nutella and mix together for about 2 minutes. Mix in the vanilla extract and salt, blend for another minute. Add in the heavy whipping cream, blend for another minute.
