Why Even My Phone Can Motivate Me to Lose Weight

Two months ago, after becoming a Verizon Wireless Ambassador, I received the Samsung Galaxy S3 phone. This was my first time to experience 4G LTE service!

In that time I’ve dropped it, almost flushed it, entertained my children with it, got myself home after the GPS went out on me, and have found so many ways to incorporate the Samsung Galaxy S3 into my life.

Recently, I started to dwell about my life, about my weight, and how I felt in general. After much consideration, and encouragement from Kim at What’s That Smell, I decided to jump on board and try out the Fitbit.

What’s a Fitbit you ask? Everyone seems to have this question, it was new to me too.

The Fitbit tracker is a small device that you can clip onto your clothing and it will show you real time activity stats to help motivate you to make changes in your life and become a better you.

I started to use the Fitbit about a week ago, in correlation with Samsung Galaxy S3. My phone has the ability to download the FitBit app and the MyFitnessPal app, both apps play very well together and help me with my day to day goals.

Here is a screenshot from my Galaxy S3, have I mentioned how simple it is to take screen shots? Just a swipe of your hand across the screen and BAM!

This is the Fitbit application that I use, it tells me how many steps I’ve taken, how many “floors” climbed, how many calories burned and even shows my food goals to know how much more I can eat today to stay within my deficit.

When using the Fitbit app on my Galaxy S3 it is more motivating to stay with the program. The large vibrant display makes the colors fun to look at, text is easy to read, and so much information is available at my fingertips.

I’m happy to report that after a week of using the Fitbit on my Samsung Galaxy S3, my weight has dropped 5 pounds!!

I know it’s really not a lot in comparison to my overall goal, however it’s a great start. I really love that my phone is motivating me to keep going and gives me the tools needed to reach my day to day goals.

Are you a FitBit user too?
