Troy-Bilt TB675 EC 4-cycle Gas String Trimmer & Jumpstart Engine Starter

I love mowing the lawn. I think it’s one of the better chores when you don’t have hired help for landscaping. Troy-Bilt sent me the TB675 EC 4-cycle gas string trimmer, plus a cordless JumpStart engine starter to review, (All thoughts are my own) and since I’ve never operated a weed eater before, I was curious if it would be as enjoyable and easy as the lawn mowing.

I let my husband assemble the Troy-Bilt weed trimmer because it was near Father’s Day and I didn’t know where to start. Plus, he’s good at these mechanical things. I was quite surprised at how long it is! Standing at 6’2″ it seemed like a comfortable (and safe) length for him to work with.

The Troy-Bilt Straight Shaft 4-cycle gas string trimmer is new for 2013 and comes with SpringAssist technology and JumpStart capabilities. Also included, the Click n Trim Bump head feature makes it easy to change out the feed line without having to disassemble the cutting head.

Another handy feature is the adjustable pro handle which makes the trimmer easy to use in either the right or left hand.

Now, we’ve been getting a lot of rain here so the grass and weeds have been growing like, well, weeds! It also means I had to wait for a couple of dry days before I could get out there and get the jungle tamed.

Dearest husband of mine, explained to me the beauty of a 4-cycle engine versus a 2-cycle engine. You don’t have to mix the oil and gas together. I have a feeling that is quite a hassle.

Safety is important, so ear protection is worn. This trimmer makes about as much noise as a lawn mower and that much noise is a bit closer to your ears in the way it’s held. So make sure you save your ears and plug them up. I noticed that wearing pants and closed toe shoes helped the flying debris as my husband noted that his legs took a beating. I would recommend eye protection and long sleeve shirt too. Those weeds go all over.

My husband explained to me that the cordless JumpStart engine starter would make life much easier in that there is no need to yank a cord to get the engine started. The JumpStart engine features a rechargeable battery that will give you up to 40 cranks on a single charge.

To use the JumpStart engine, simply place it into the JumpStart port on the back of the trimmer and press the button. It took a few tries to figure out exactly how it worked, but once it got going we were ready to go!

I used a push mower as a kid that I could never start myself because I wasn’t fast enough pulling the cord. So it’s good that I won’t have to worry about torn muscles just trying to get the TB675 Weed Trimmer started.

I’ve had quite a bit of fun using the Troy-Bilt TB675 EC 4-cycle Gas String Trimmer to conquer the jungle around my green house today.
