Thirsties Duo All in One Cloth Diaper Review
I love getting new fluff in the mail! The Thirsties All-In-One Duo diaper arrived on my doorstep yesterday. Trying out a new AIO is always interesting, so I wanted to see what made this diaper different from others I’d tried in the past.
Here are the facts-
- Made in the USA!
- Two-sized diaper system. Size 1 fits babies 6-18 lbs. and size 2 fits babies and toddlers 18-40 lbs.
- Snap-down rise helps you get the exact fit for your baby
- Aplix or snap closures
- PUL outer
- Soft micro fleece inner
- Soaker is sewn into the inner and attached on the sides, this creates a tunnel effect allowing space to add more soakers.
I added another microfiber insert because I know B is a heavy wetter. The inside of the diaper is really soft, and B smiled when I popped it on. He loves a fluffy bum! I love the sweet periwinkle blue of this diaper, it’s really a beautiful color.
One complaint I often hear about pocket diapers is how cumbersome the stuffing process is. For some reason stuffing a diaper with the inserts becomes a dreaded chore and either the person stops using pockets all together, or they put off stuffing the diapers until it is time to change out the diaper.
PUL can be sort of “sticky” on the inside and it can make it hard to slide your hand in. This Thirsties AIO Duo has a “pocket” for stuffing doublers. In between the sewn in soaker and the PUL there is another layer of inner, this keeps your hand from sticking on that part of the PUL during the stuffing process. Because of the extra layer, inserting a bamboo double was such an easy process. I also liked the opening at the front and the back to help the doubler lay straight.
I was surprised about how high the rise is in the back of this diaper. Among the highest I’ve seen yet. I think that’s great because as the child grows it will still provide good coverage.
The diaper took a little longer to dry after washing. To speed up the drying time I found it helps to turn the AIO diapers inside out, just a little tip. Also, if you get aplix- use the laundry tabs!
Overall this is a swell diaper, and I’d recommend it to those looking to try a pocket but want the AIO benefit of less stuffing!

i am curious how using an aio is different from a pocket.. i would love to try this out with my little man!! i love the thirsties covers!

I’ve been curious about this diaper. I just got the Duo cover to try. I do like the AIO better than the pocket part, but it would be nice if you have a heavy wetter to be able to add a doubler. Might have to try one out someday.

I’ve been thinking about trying some AIOs..this review was awesome! We’ve been using Flips Pockets and I know as my son gets older and starts eating solids, things might get a little messy. AIOs seem like that would provide better coverage. Thanks for the review!

I got one of these as part of a Mystery Fluff package from Kissed by the Moon and I love it! It was my first AIO, I have mostly pockets and Flips. I like having a couple AIO’s for the diaper bag or babysitters.

I love pockets! I know how “sticky” the PUL can be when I am stuffing and I hate that! I love the idea of the layer of inner so it’s easier! It makes this a very versatile diaper! I have never tried one and would love to!

I have an AIO from Thirsties in my try cloth diaper trial from a place in Ithaca NY. I do indeed like it as well but have found it takes longer to dry then the others. I am still working my way through the different ones so far and am finding that there is more user error then diaper problems. Still working out the kinks.
I love this CD is so trim and absorbent!! it does take longer to dry but is so worth it!! I take the insert inside out so that it drys faster..

I like that these are designed to be an AIO but that you can ad doublers to them with out touching the PUL This was a great review pointing out the features as well as giving the hint to turn inside out so that they dry faster
Thanks for the tip about the high back. I’m just switching to cloth and we have a real issue with blowouts with disposables so this would be a good one for us to try!

Maybe with the high rise in the back and the two step sizing it will be good for tall babies. Dd is in the 95th percentile for length.

Just looking at the possibility of cloth diapers for my soon to be here first grandchild. I’m still not sold on the idea, especially if Mom works. When my kids were babies, I tried cloth diapers (yes, the old fashioned ones). They soon became burp clothes. I would be interested in seeing/using the “new and improved” cloth diapering.
I’m very excited to see that there’s a layer of the microfleece (or whatever material) over the inner layer of PUL tomake stuffing easier. I haven’t read about this on any other review! I can’t wait to try this diaper!

Love the 2 size system, OS never seems to work for our big baby.

I love the Thirsties All-In-One Duo diaper! I only have one and would love to have another! I think they are great at containing messes.

I have never tried the Thirsties Duo AIO. It sounds like it has some great features especially the high rise in the back of the diaper.
I have the duo diaper and I really like it but hate stuffing so this just might be my answer:)
i like the 2 sizes and the dry time doesn’t bother me..especially in this warm weather i just hang them outside and they dry in no time! :)
I hate unstuffing too! I’ve found a few other brands of pocket diaper that have an opening in the front and the back of the pocket so the inserts come out in the wash through agitation.
I’ve never tried Thirsties, but I like the snap down rise to help get a better fit.
These are my FAVORITE out and about diapers. So easy to just shove a dirty one in the wet bag, then dump it in the pail when we get home without having to deal with unstuffing.
I’m sort of afraid to try AIOs. It’s always nice to hear good things about them though.

Chantal isn’t a big fan of Aplix either, she would have preferred snaps. Thankfully this diaper does come with a choice of either Aplix or Snaps.
Isn’t that awesome? Blow outs up the back are the worst, specially when you reach your hand back there to check their diaper and find it all over your hand. Blah

I am new to cloth diapering and so far have only used pockets and I love them, they seem so easy but have nothing to compare to yet. I like how this pocket has an extra layer inside so your hand doesn’t stick to the PUL, that is one of my complaints but that wouldn’t happen with this one!
i bought one of these recently and also love it! most diapers have a very low rise on DD, i like that this one is a little higher up in the back :)

Great review :) I like that it has a special pocket to stuff so you don’t get stuck on the PUL. I’m not a fan of Aplix so if they made it in snaps I’d be more likely to try it. I’ve used the Thirsties duo size 1 and 2 covers (still do for my fitteds) and I love how great they fit as opposed to my OS Rumparooz cover. Cute prints available too!
I have one old aio that takes forever to dry (inside 2 days) This new diaper looks much better and easier to deal with!
I like that you can use it as an ail or stuff it! I have never tried thirsties, but really want to!

This is one of my favorite diapers. I haven’t found it takes any longer to dry than any of my other AIO’s (except maybe the Bumgenius Freetime)
