Thank You Mom for Building Our Olympians | Procter & Gamble

Olympians weren’t born as Olympians. The patience, support, love, and encouragement from their moms and dads is what got them there.

Procter & Gamble are the proud sponsors of moms for the London 2012 Olympic Games. They are celebrating moms all over the world to say “Thank You Mom” by sending over 2,000 mothers to the London Olympic Games 2012 so they can see their children achieving their dreams.

Recently Procter & Gamble hosted a celebration send off for three-time Olympian and World Champion Water Polo Player Brenda Villa, her mom, Rosario, at a Los Angeles Costco Warehouse.

4feb91672b858.preview-300Brenda’s mother, Rosario, was an immigrant and never had the opportunity to learn how to swim. Because they were living in Southern California Rosario wanted Brenda to be safe when in the water. At the age of 8 years old, Brenda Villa started swim lessons and her mother was there for her every step of the way.

In high school, Brenda started to play on the boys water polo team and while this was a very unfamiliar sport to her mother, Rosario gave her the support and encouragement that she needed.

Rosario’s advice to other moms is this “Encourage them, support them and allow them to follow their dreams. Make sure you give them the confidence to follow their own values and beliefs and stay true to themselves.

While we couldn’t attend the send off for Brenda, our best wishes are sent to her and her family during her journey in the London 2012 Olympic Games!
