Stuffed Animal Toy Storage Baskets

Your child grows up and the toy collection grows. Then comes a point where you want to either give away toys and stuffed animals or find a better storage place for them.

Right?

My son has an enormous amount of stuffed animals and he won’t let me get rid of ANY of them.

Here is how we made Toy Storage out of Plant Hangers:

  • We looked all over town for plant hangers; from Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Joanns, Lowes, and the only place that had anything like this was Home Depot. I’m guessing with summer coming to an end, things like this aren’t so easy to find.
  • So we purchased a 36” and 24” English Horse Trough aka Plant Hangers.
  • We also purchased a can of Heirloom White spray paint to blend the plant hangers in with my son’s room.
  • The plant hangers were a little heavy for dry wall so we purchased Hollow Wall Anchors, aka Butterfly Screws, to hang them up.

These Stuffed Animal Toy Storage Baskets are a creative and fun way to store your children's stuffed animals. Perfect for small spaces, it gets all of the toys off of beds and the floor.

Hollow Wall Anchors look like this:

This hanging stuffed animal habitat would make for a great weekend project! Depending on how many coats of spray paint that you need, this could easily be done in two days.

Because our planters were black, and we were spraying to a white color, two coats were needed for our project.

The hanging process was very easy to do and even though the plant hangers came with brackets for hanging, the hollow wall anchors were more than enough to do the job.

Here is our final result…

TA DA!

What a cute and adorable idea! Love it! (Thankfully our little one is still young enough to not have a gazillion stuffies, but I did and I know this will come in handy).

Great idea. This would have worked well when my kids were younger instead of just the pile on the bed.

I love it! My son is the same way. He refuses to get rid of any of his stuffed animals. Right now they all sleep on the top bunk with him because he has no where else for them! When we get in our own house I am for sure doing this for him so he has more room in his bed to sleep! lol!

That is just too cute, love the idea. Thank you so much for posting this. They make three cornered nets for toys but this is so much cuter and more practical.

I love it!! We have virtually no storage space in out house and the kids have small bedrooms, so I am always looking for new ideas to get things off the floor and out of the way.

I saw your post where you mentioned that you were going to make these and I was wondering how they would turn out and if you were going to paint them. I love the look! My daughter has so many plushies and they don’t sit on a normal shelf very well and the fish netting keeps falling down from the weight so this idea is perfect. I’m not the handiest person in the world but I think this is more than doable for me. I’m going to try it :)

ps. I think you’re the first person I’ve seen that actually made something they found on pinterest and backed it up with photos. Bravo!

I have tons of projects I want to do too that I have pinned on Pinterest. This turned out so cute because instead of throwing them in a tub or bin, this way you can actually see the cuteness of the toys.

I love this! I may just have to do it! It’d make a good place to put your diapers over the changing table…Hm

That is a super awesome point about the dust! So many people are having allergy problems because of the crazy summer weather, us included, at least this would move the dust from your children’s face on their bed, up to the wall!

Johanna that was me for a long time. I finally got tired of drooling over the fun things to do and decided to give it a go. I think actually doing them is becoming more addicting to pinning them! I have my next project half way done on our kitchen counter. Can’t wait to share it :)

I saw that one too! I love the idea but had NO where to put something like that. This project was easier for us as it moved the animals from my son’s floor and bed to the wall in a cute, confined, display.

That is awesome! I have an entire box of my favorite ever stuffed animals and this would be a great way to get them OUT of the box, but not have to suffer with the dust ON my bed. I love it!

This looks awesome. I found something for stuffed animals on pinterest as well. Maybe you’ve seen the “zoo” roaming around pinterest. My husband and I made one similiar, but customized it. Now all of my daughters stuffed friends hang out in her “zoo”. Huge fan of pinterest. This turned out great. I will have to do something like this for my daycare.
