Stretching your Dollar to Buy Gifts for the Whole Family #ChaseHolidays $100 GC Giveaway

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Chase Ultimate Rewards. I received compensation for this post, however all opinions stated are my own.

I like to consider myself a thrifty gift shopper. Throughout the year, I scope out sales and purchase gifts to put aside for the holidays. While I can take care of a lot of gifts this way, there are a few things that come up around the holidays, adding to the holiday gift list.

We struggle during the holiday months, property tax bills come in for our vehicles, doctor’s bills come in from the kids getting sick, it just feels like a lot of things pile in at once.

One way we stretch our dollars is by redeeming credit card rewards points for holiday gifts. Plus, when we shop online we can even earn bonus points.

Chase Freedom, Chase Sapphire and Ink from Chase all come with Ultimate Rewards, letting you redeem reward points for things like travel, gift cards, cash back, merchandise and more. I’ve been a Chase cardholder for several years and love the rewards; sometimes I even redeem them for a little treat to myself.

I’m still working on this year’s holiday gift list, but last year I was able to do some fun things with our credit card reward points.

And with Chase Freedom, cardholders can save 10 – 20 percent by redeeming cash back rewards for gifts cards to give as gifts or to use toward holiday shopping at major retailers!

Here are some ideas for redeeming cash back rewards for gifts:

  • Movie Night Gift Pack – Add a gift card into a popcorn bucket along with some candy and you can make a really cute gift basket.
  • Shopping Spree for the Teen – Get gift cards for a few different retailers where your teen likes to shop; gift them together and your teen can have a fun little shopping spree
  • Gifts for Mom or Grandparents – Give them a relaxing day to themselves with a SpaFinder.com gift card
  • Gift Cards for Christmas Shopping –It’s inevitable that toys are on the holiday gift list; use a Kohl’s gift card and purchase toys for the kids. Or even purchase a toy or two to teach your children about giving and take the toys to your local charity.

I try to buy all year round, when items are on sale. And of course buy clearance items from the previous season as gifts for this year.

I search for the best deal. I search the entire web until I find the absolute best price and then I look for coupon codes to make the price even better. If I’m going out to a store I will print coupons to use there also. Thank you!!

We all have everything we need, so we’ve limited our gifts to homemade goodies and new Christmas ornaments. And for some people, we agree to exchange after the holiday, which saves us money cuz we shop the after Christmas sales.

I save money on Christmas shopping by starting very early and comparison shopping and using discounts. When you wait to the last minute it seems like you are forced to pay more than you may want to just to get something in time.
