Instilling a Love of Reading in Children at a Young Age – Scholastic Giveaway

I love to read, and have always hoped that it would be something that my children inherit as well. When I learned that we had speech issues early on, I knew that implanting in them a love of words would be even more important. The more they practice reading now, the less they will struggle with it later on down the road.
The difficult part came in figuring out how to foster that love of reading I wanted so badly for them to have. The most important thing was choosing the correct books. I needed to find books that were both age appropriate, and that would capture their attention and keep it for the duration of the story.
That’s were Scholastic came in.
Scholastic’s “The Story Starts Here” picture book campaign came about due to Scholastic’s desire to introduce their picture books to new parents and caregivers, as well as educators and librarians. They hoped that by doing this, they could help to ignite a love in reading in a child, which starts on day ONE! The book offerings are so diverse and unique that there truly is something that would fit each and every child.

I encourage my child to pick the book he wants me to read to him. I keep most of his books in his reach in his room. I also read random things and articles aloud when he is near me.
We always read bedtime stories and make weekly trips to the library to make sure we have fresh reading material every week!

We read books during the day, before naps and at bedtime. I try to make them fun books so they enjoy the story as well as the pictures.
I instill a love of reading in my girls by making reading fun. We read a story before bedtime & now my kinder loves to read & will read to us.
I love to let my son help pick out books that he is interested in from book orders at school, and also at the library.

I make it fun but getting them to be involved with the characters. ,we love to read.
I have always loved to read & spent lots of time with books as a child. I encourage my granddaughter to read with me & we go to the library.
I make sure my kids have a good selection of book at there interests and reading level
To instill the love of reading in my grandsons, I make it a part of their daily routine and I buy books for them that have topics they are interested in reading about, like vehicles, animals, etc.
