How We Keep a Smooth Routine While On The Go

I have a confession to make.

I’m an on-the-go parent.

When I was planning for my first child, I knew exactly how it would go. I would be the mom that had dinner ready at a specific time each day. My Husband would know to always be home by dinner, and in the odd event that he was going to be late, he’d call to let me know so that I could put his hot meal in the oven to keep it warm. That way he would ALWAYS have a hot meal every day.

My kids would sit down with us around the dinner table, without a single distraction in sight. We would all go around the table smiling at each other and sharing how wonderful our days were.

This would be the norm.

Fast forward to reality, 2 children later, and I must admit… I’m not quite the Stepford housewife I imagined. We do sit down and eat dinners as a family very often, but it isn’t an every night thing. It certainly isn’t at the exact same time each and every night. Although we do try to aim for a general timeframe…

Instead, flexibility is key to our family running efficiently.

Between my family events, extracurricular activities, and school events, we are usually coming or going at any given time. This means that meals and snacks MUST be planned out in advance, or there is absolutely no hope of them going smoothly.

Luckily, Mott’s® Snack and Go makes it easy to provide a nutritious snack while we’re on the go, in between meals. Not only do they taste delicious, the fact that they are packed with vitamin C is an added bonus. The strawberry and natural flavors even have no sugar added! That alone makes them wonderful in my mommy eyes. The Original Snack and Go, Strawberry Snack and Go and Natural Snack and Go are all extremely yummy, and the kids love them!

I also love them because of how easy they are to stash in the car or in my purse, and have handy to pull out during those in between times. I feel like I’m providing the children with a good, nutritious snack rather than filling them up with sugar and ruining their dinner.

And, of course, finding a snack that both of my children can agree on (and eat without any allergy issues) pretty much seals the deal!

What’s your favorite go to snack?

I try to keep my kids on a routine too. However, I always leave some leeway in the event something goes wrong.

I love carrying a baggie mixed with fresh almonds, yogurt covered raisins, and bite size crackers or maybe granola. It gives me the protein I need and keeps me sated until I can eat a real meal.

I love those toddler fruit pouch thingies. When we go on longer trips, I pack several of the organic ones, for everyone.

We are always on the go. Between band and Girls Scouts and soccer, I feel like we live in the car! My kids always have snacks to take and I try to make them healthy; apples, grapes, etc. I’ll have to buy these now too!

I rarely leave the house, but I still eat like an on-the-go person. I’m at my computer all day, and I just grab whatever. I like to keep trail mix on hand at all times.
