Rotate Around the Room with the iHealth iBaby Video Monitor | Review

iHealth iBaby Video Monitor

The biggest gripe that my husband and I have always had about baby monitors is that we couldn’t move the angle of the camera. I love having baby monitors, even for my 4 year old.

There have been times with my little one when the camera would get knocked out of place, or she would squirm to another end of the crib and fuss. You know how it works, the minute you walk into their room to see what the problem is, the baby then instantly wants you to pick them up and fusses until you do.

My first impression of the iHealth iBaby Video Monitor was shock over the size. The iBaby monitor is noticeably larger than my previous baby monitor, but with the capabilities that the iBaby was going to provide I figured the trade off would be worth it.

The setup was easy to do with my iPad. Screwed on the antenna, plugged in the DC and Ethernet cord, and plugged the camera into the back of my router. After downloading the free iBaby application onto my iPad, and following the setup instructions, I was connected to the baby monitor within minutes.

Some of the iBaby features include:

  • Compatibility with Apple iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and PCs
  • Supports up to 4 devices and 4 users
  • Infrared night vision
  • Motion & Sound Alerts
  • Snapshot Functions for sending pictures to friends and family
  • 2 Way Radio to allow you to hear and respond to your baby through the monitor
  • Remotely rotate the camera right, left, up and down

My Thoughts on the iBaby Monitor:

My little one is 18 months old and we don’t watch her much at night however, we do watch her during nap times and during playtime in her room with big brother.

I love that we can use the iPad to check in on our little ones both during the day or at night. With the swipe of my finger across the iPad, the iBaby camera monitor will rotate left, right, up and down. There doesn’t seem to be much sound from the motion of the camera which is a big plus.

My husband and I both like that the iBaby monitor can take pictures of your little one from the camera.

What Could be Improved:

There is a 2 Way audio feature and I was quite excited about this as it would have allowed me to soothe my little one back to sleep, or tell her big brother to stop harassing her. However, to use this feature you have to attach an external speaker to the camera. We did not have an external speaker and since we mounted the camera on the wall, if we added a speaker then we would have to mount the speaker as well.

While the rotating feature is very awesome I would also like to see a zoom in and zoom out feature added.

I couldn’t quite figure out how to use the sound and motion alert feature. You can set the motion alert and the sound alert level anywhere from low to high. When I set the sound level to high, we received alerts every time there was a tiny sound, including sound from a rain storm. When we moved it down then we didn’t receive any alerts at all, I’m sure there is a happy medium in there somewhere it will just take some adjusting.

Overall I’m very pleased with the iBaby video monitor. The rotating capabilities are a top notch feature that my husband and I have been waiting for a long time. We love that this camera can be used from the nursery and as she gets bigger we can move the camera into the playroom or other rooms in the house that need monitoring. While there are a few things that I would have changed, those details would not deter me from purchasing this video monitor.

Oh how cool is that! I would have luved it in fact I still would when my 1 year old granddaughter is here. I agree about the zoom in zoom out so I could see like if she were choking or just about anything I’d want to know.

I love how the monitor gives some peace of mind, especially as a new mom. I have been trying to talk my hubby into getting one, because it would be nice to be able to see them while they are sleeping. Especially since I have such light sleepers

I don’t have a video monitor but was thinking of getting one. I like how nice the picture is even without light in the room. The two way speaker is neat too!
