Potty Training Woes & The Big Kid Academy!

Thanks to Pull-Ups® for sponsoring today’s discussion

If there’s one thing that having a second child has taught me, it’s that each child is different and hits milestones in their own unique time. Some of this may stem from my oldest being male, and my youngest a female; but I think most just comes from their individual personalities.

This is especially true with potty training!

Andrew was a breeze to potty train. We had a little bout for a few months where he didn’t want to #2 in the pot, but once that was over… it was all down hill from there! Nighttime accidents were never an issue.

Andrea, on the other hand, is a whole different ball game. Potty training has been much more challenging this time around. It seems like the process has just dragged on for ages! While she’s pretty much potty trained; we still have accidents at nights or when we’re in new places from time to time.

Potty Training Woes & The Big Kid Academy!

We recently enrolled her in the Pull-Ups Big Kids Academy. I believe this will give Andrea the extra nudge towards being fully potty trained, and will leave us being able to feel assured she’ll stay dry throughout the night, and in new situations. The Big Kids Academy site has several games and activities for Andrea, as well as tips and tricks on potty training for Dad and I.

Potty Training Woes & The Big Kid Academy!

My favorite thing about Pull-Ups Big Kids Academy is that it’s personalized to fit each child’s unique needs. It helps Andrea get excited about potty training, without making her feel like a “baby”. My biggest potty training tip is to be patient and to understand that every child learns and grows at their very own unique pace.

Potty Training Woes & The Big Kid Academy!

The Big Kids Academy reinforces that belief, while providing parents with tips you can use to help guide your child to potty training effortlessly and successfully.

You are so right! Potty training is very individual to each kiddo. We just wrapped up potty training for my daughter and it took her a little while but she has the hang of it now!

It’s so completely individual. You’re not kidding at all! I definitely believe in following the child’s lead. These would help the process a lot though.

This is what we used when we potty trained. I will remind my sister about this because she will be potty training soon.

I am not far away from getting my youngest potty trained. I need to start working on it as soon as possible.

I like that you mentioned the importance of letting them go at their own pace. I had three who were easy, but the last one took his own sweet time, he just wasn’t ready. And that was fine.

I love how they make the new cute designs on pull-ups. They didn’t have such cute ones when my kids were in diapers.

Potty training can be so different for each child. My son was fairly easy. We used Cheerios to help him aim. My daughter had more night time accidents but was good during the day. We used Pull Ups and they really make potty training easier.

Such a great resource for parents! I don’t have kids yet but this is a great post I can share with some mom friends.

I hated potty training. My kiddo caught on to going number 1 right before he turned 4. We’re still working on number 2

Thankfully, potty training my son was easy. I know some parents who could definitely use this, though.

This is a great idea. Potty training can be very difficult, so anything a parent can do to make it easier is great.

What a great resource for parents. I just got done teaching my youngest to use the potty and we are totally off of diapers now. But that’s all going to change. I have a baby due next month, so it’s only a matter of time before I have to do it again. Each of my children were different and challenging.

Accidents happen. Children learn at their own rate. My son still has accidents at night. He can’t help it. We used Pull Ups forever.

I love the cute Doc McStuffins designs. Fortunately my girls are done with the potty training stage! We used Huggies Pull-Ups too!

This is such a cute idea! We’re having some issues with our youngest as well. And like you, our older child was a breeze. Sigh…
