One step forward, 4 steps back, we are working on potty training and it’s super slow going. My 3 1/2 year old has been jumping back and forth with the idea and we are hoping that after the holidays, we can get her on the bandwagon full force.

To help get her excited about Potty Training, we decided to check out a new potty training app – Potty Training: Learning with the Animals. Kid’s are motivated and learning with apps these days, right? It was worth a try.

Potty Training : Learning with the Animals is an award winning app that was launched earlier this year and has been downloaded more than 45,000 times.

Upon launching of the app, there is a selection of farm animals that your child can start with and when you rotate the scene, there is a little boy and girl that they can pick from too.

After making a selection, the animal or character begins by dancing around and making funny noises, kind of what you would recognize as the “potty dance” from your child.

There are objects in each scene that your child can touch for extra animations, for example; the bottles move and clank when touched, spiders will crawl down their webs and the horses hay will rustle.

When your child touches the animal while they are making the potty noises, butterflies will fly up into the air. This is to resemble the feeling that you get in your tummy when it’s time to use the restroom.

When ready, your child can click on the potty and the animal will sit down to use the restroom.

HOORAY!

Andrea has been playing with this app non stop, she even requests to play it while sitting on her potty. She feels extra proud when helping the animals to get to the bathroom in time and I have to think that this has aided in growing her interest of using the potty.

I wonder about apps like this and how crude they will be, but Potty Training : Learning with the Animals was tastefully put together, no crude sounds, no body parts showing and it’s perfect for a child who is in the potty training phases.

I do recommend this app, it’s fun, engaging and has become an aide in teaching Andrea how to potty train.
