Who doesn’t love to make turkeys with their kids for Thanksgiving? My kids have been excited to make them, so we went into the craft store and picked up a few items to make this adorably cute Thanksgiving Popsicle Stick Turkey.

Here is what you will need:

  • Styrofoam ball – any size will work
  • Washable markers
  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Googly eyes
  • Thanksgiving colored feathers – red, yellow, tan and brown
  • Brown pipe cleaners – or even little brown pom poms
  • Foam sheets – glittery red, golden yellow and brown

Popsicle Stick Thanksgiving Turkey I didn’t use a pattern for the turkey bodies, rather I just drew a really big “8” on a piece of paper and cut around the edges. It made a cute round head and big round body. Then I hot glued on the googly eyes, nose and gobble. The gobble was free cut too, just some squiggly cutting and at the end I cut an angle so the gobble would fit nicely against the beak. Popsicle Stick Thanksgiving Turkey To keep the turkey from rolling around, I cut straight across the bottom of the Styrofoam ball. Then I hot glued the turkey bodies up against the foam ball. Pretty easy right? Popsicle Stick Thanksgiving Turkey This was one of the fun parts for my kids. Take the brown pipe cleaners and cut them into small pieces, then let the kids poke the pieces all of your turkey’s body. I tried to find brown pom poms but only found small bags of them, the pipe cleaners were more cost effective for this project. Popsicle Stick Thanksgiving Turkey Popsicle Stick Thanksgiving Turkey

I asked my kids to color in the popsicle sticks with red, orange, brown and yellow. They even used one stick to write their names and year on the back. Take the popsicle sticks and poke them into the turkey’s butt, fanning across the body. Behind the popsicle sticks and all around the rest of the turkey’s bottom, fill in with the feathers. I even took a few of the features and poked them in the front, around the turkeys head.
