Peanut Free Home Made Granola Bars Recipe

Granola bars are a great snack for breakfast, lunch, work, or even as a snack on the run. When made from scratch, granola bars can be really good for you too!

Another good thing about making granola bars yourself is the low risk of peanut allergens. Many granola bars sold in stores are not peanut free. Making granola bars at home is a quick and easy thing to do, everyone can enjoy them, and you will feel better knowing these granola bars are loaded with fiber, protein, minerals, and vitamins.

I have always loved granola bars. The sweet, salty, crunchy all coming together in every bite. Here is our version of a Peanut Free Granola Bar.

granola (2 of 3)

Ingredients

  • 4c rolled oats
  • 1c all purpose flour
  • 1t baking soda
  • 1t vanilla extract
  • 1c butter, softened (this is important!)
  • 1/2c honey
  • 1/3c packed brown sugar
  • 2c total of what ever other goodies you want in there.
Ideas of mix ins: peanut butter (For those without peanut allergies), shredded coconut, chocolate chips, raisins, and sunflower seeds.

granola (1 of 3)Directions

Preheat oven to 325*F (165*C) Lightly grease a 9×13″ pan with deep sides.

In a large mixing bowl combine the ingredients until they look well distributed.
Press the mixture in the pan, Bake for 20-25minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool completely, cut and serve!

My son and I have been enjoying a granola bar with breakfast each morning and I plan to make more! They are so yummy, and I love that they were so inexpensive, too!

I love granola in any form, actually its the oats. What I find great about it is that you can make it into any form. Be it balls, bars or just poured in a bag it is so convenient. And if you make your own the possibilities of additives is endless, whatever suits your palate!

I can’t believe how easy this looks! We spend so much money on chewy bars… this seems tastier and healthier!

Seems like an awful lot of butter, but I guess that’s the trade off for not being able to use any type of nut butter. I love how versatile the recipe is. You can tweak it to your liking.

These will be great for my son’s pre-school! They are nut-free (at least with food, anyhow… hah!) No seriously though, they are having teacher appreciation week coming up next month & a lot of us parents are getting together to plan a day where we will all bring something pot-luck style to feed all of the teachers for breakfast, lunch & for them to snack on during the day. I think I found my recipe! Thanks so much :) Can’t wait to try this!
