Pink Shoes & My Motivation to Get Active – Walk With Me!

Many thanks to Skechers for sponsoring today’s story and encouraging me to stay active with a great shoe!

If you’ve been reading along with my posts about the knee injury that I sustained back in June, you will also know that I have taken great strides to improve my health. I still have nightmares about my kneecap dislocating and replay the event over and over in my head. Songs come on the radio and the instantly bring back memories from Zumba class. Man, I loved that class..

Since finishing up my physical therapy about a month ago, I’ve moved my rehab into the gym and signed up with a personal trainer. She is amazing! I’ve been learning a lot about myself, my health and know more than ever that in order to prevent another knee injury it was going to take some getting into shape.

My Fitness Journey

Many people say that they want to get in shape for their children. While I want the same thing, I also know that it begins with motivation of wanting to do this for yourself. We take our bodies for granted and all it takes is a knee injury, or a something like a breast cancer diagnosis to change our lives and how we think.

So I moved into the gym a month ago with a personal trainer. I see her once a week, but my visits to the gym are 4 days a week. I spend my time building endurance that was lost during rehab, and building strength. About an hour and a half is how long I stay and when done, my body feels amazing. I feel so much stronger and have tons of energy to keep up with my kids. I actually wake up in the mornings with cravings, not for pancakes and donuts, but I crave to get active

That’s a cool feeling to have, seriously!

I know that stopping exercise will increase my chances of another dislocation, so that is my motivation. I’m going to lose 100 pounds, get in shape and I’m already 12 pounds on my way! (Follow my journey on Instagram!)

With my new journey in the gym, it was time for some new gear. Because let’s face it, cute work-out gear is motivation in itself to get out and get active!

I’ve had several people in my life go through the battle to beat Breast Cancer. It’s an important cause to support and when I can purchase new shoes, like these Skechers GOrun Sprint shoes, and still achieve my own fitness goals I’m all for it.

All items in the line feature a soft, heather grey and pale pink colorway, as well as the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon.
