Easy Tips to Wake Up Early in the Morning

I’m convinced that the world is split between two types of people; those that hop up in the morning, bright eyed and ready to take on the day… and those that continue to push the snooze button “just one more time” before slowly drawing themselves out of bed begrudgingly. I happen to fall into the latter category. At least I did…

While I’m still not the world’s cheeriest morning person, I’ve learned some tips and tricks along the way that definitely help make getting up early more bearable.

Tips & Tricks to Becoming a Cheerier Morning Person

Ease into Early Starts

Your body needs time to adjust to waking up early, if you’ve been sleeping in for a while. It’s like getting into a pool of cold water… some people prefer to just jump right in, but most of us need to ease into it. Gradually add 10-15 minutes to your wakeup time each morning, rather than making a drastic change overnight.

Move your Alarm Clark

It’s hard not to fall into the temptation of the snooze button. Move your alarm clock out of arms reach, so you’ll have to get out of the bed to turn it off. This makes it much less likely you’ll fall back asleep.

Make A Morning Incentive

What about mornings makes you dread them the most? Don’t start off that way! Instead, find an activity you like to do (like reading or stretching) and do that first thing instead. Waking up is much easier when you have something to look forward to.

Get Enough Sleep

Just because you’re waking up earlier doesn’t mean only your morning routine will change. Adjust your evening routine to allow you to go to bed sooner, so you’ll be sure to get enough rest.

Use Folgers Perfect Measures Coffee

Who has time to stand around measuring coffee in the mornings? When you aren’t a morning person, you need a quick and easy caffeine fix. Folgers Perfect Measures allow you to just throw the tab into your coffee machine, and water, and go. No more measuring spoons or equations.

Granted, these tips won’t make you magically turn into a chipper morning person. They will, however, make it much easier to adjust to getting into the habit of working early.

Nothing, and I mean nothing can get me out of bed faster than a fresh cup of coffee. I’ll have to check out the Folger’s Perfect Measures. Anything that gets the coffee into my system quicker is my new favorite thing. ;)

I’m not an early riser at all. Back in college I had my alarm clock on the other side of the room and it still didn’t help… Thank goodness now I have coffee!

These are all great tips. I use to be a morning person until I had my kids. Now I wish I could always sleep in. I actually set my alarm clock and then ten minutes later my phone alarm will go off. I always get up after the second one.

I am not a morning person AT ALL. I am very lucky to have a husband who makes me my cup of coffee every morning. That helps a lot.
