Life’s Simple Pleasures for Children| Eating Snow
It is February of 2012 and we just experienced our first snow fall of the season.
Andrew has been increasingly excited about the winter months and we purchased all of his snow gear in the late fall months.. sadly this is the first winter that we have not had any snow, in fact we have been experiencing record temperatures up into the 50’s and 60’s.
Yesterday when we woke up my children’s eyes lit up with excitement, the sight of a white blanket on the ground means a fun day of playing in the snow.
Andrew learned how to make his first snow angel, shovel the driveway and even asked if he could eat snow.
While this is a gross thought in my mind..
No child goes through life without experiencing the simple pleasure of knowing what snow tastes like

I grew up in Southern Missouri so we did not get a lot of snow. I always loved the snow because it was so rare. I remember eating snow and playing outside until mom made us come in. I definitely miss those days.
So cute! We live in the desert, so my kids only have the option of eating sand. So not the same!
A downside to living in the south is that we never have snow.
We were calling our son our “snow baby” because the first two winters after he was born it DID snow here. This year it hasn’t even gotten cold, most less snowed.
Knowing myself, if Parker wanted to eat snow, i’d probalby eat it with him. lol
So cute! I am glad Andrew finally got some snow to play in :)
I have heard several moms talk about snow ice cream, I’ll have to try that next time we have a real snow.

This is what I’ve taught my son.. when to and when NOT to eat snow. I used to love eating snow when I was a kid!
Snow ice cream! Now that’s a new one.. how would it stay in snow form? I’m interested to know more!
We haven’t had any snow in GA yet! We’ve had a pretty mild winter so far. A few cold days mixed with 60 degree weather. It’s been nice though since we’ve been able to go outside and play.
I remember eating snow as a kid and my grandma would tell me about how they used to make snow ice cream. Nowadays, I don’t know if that would be a good thing or not…guess it depends on where you live. The only household member that we still have at home (both my boys are grown & on their own) is our 12 year old black lab named Molly. She LOVES eating snow!
I’m not sure if I’ve ever eaten snow…. growing up in Texas, when it snows, it’s always so thin that it’s all dirty. Hmm… Wonder if I can convince myself as an adult to try it sometime. :)
Ha ha! My two year old played in the dusting of snow we had this morning. It was all gone by this afternoon. He hasn’t attempted to eat any snow yet. But I don’t put it past him. ;)
I love it!! My son has been so excited about the first snow too and we just got a dusting. He insisted on going “sledding” and playing the mush. What can I say I couldn’t say no :)
Haha! So cute! I am going to be 36 in March and still eat snow. Just the white snow. :)

I live in the Southeast so it is rare that we see snow – my 3 yr old keeps asking for snow as he has seen it once and remembers.
haha, “knowing when and not to eat it”. How fun! So glad he got to experience that. :)
Haha! Love it. I don’t know if I have ever eaten snow, now that I think about it. Sad. I wonder if people would frown upon an adult eating snow… ;-)

I always found it so hard to discourage my children from the things I did as a child and remember fondly – but now realize as a an adult how nasty they could have been.
It was and is hard to let go for me.
