LEGOLAND Kansas City Discovery Center | Hours of Fun for the Whole Family

Recently, I shared with you our experience at the SeaLife Kansas City Aquarium.

During our visit, we also had an opportunity to visit the LEGOLAND Kansas City Discovery Center. I never really knew what to expect from a LEGOLAND, what can you expect outside of a ton of LEGOs to play with?

LEGOLAND Kansas City

There are several areas of LEGOLAND for you to visit during your stay.

One of my favorites was at the MINILAND, where nearly 1.5 million LEGO bricks were put together to form a miniature version of many famous Kansas City landmarks. The kids loved seeing a miniature version of Crown Center, including the SeaLife and LEGOLAND Discovery Center buildings.

So how cool is this! Inside of the LEGO Friends attraction, we found a karaoke stage where the LEGO friend Andrea performs. Maybe it’s a little ironic that my little girl’s name is Andrea too.

I love that there were so many things for her to do, right along with the big kids. Andrea loved the big magnetic board to put letters on. Right next door to the karaoke stage, Andrea was able to build her favorite desserts with the Cupcake LEGOS and build a house with mommy.

LEGOLAND Racers

One of the surprises at LEGOLAND, was the offering of actual rides for the kids. The areas were too dark for photos, but they are definitely worth mentioning.

Kindom Quest and Merlin’s Apprentice are both family friendly rides that everyone will enjoy. Andrea, 2 years old, was even able to ride along with an adult.

The big kids spent most of their time at the LEGO Racers : Build and Test area, and this was definitely the busiest area of the place. My husband and the kids spent over an hour here, building race cars out of LEGOs and racing them up and down the test tracks and ramps. Andrea’s only interest was trying to climb up the ramps, so this isn’t geared very much for the little ones.

However, near the Build and Test zone – there was a bathroom area and benches along with mini foam pools of LEGOS. This was perfect for mommy and Andrea to enjoy a snack and play in the pool of LEGOS while being able to watch the car races nearby.

LEGOLAND Kansas City Cafe

LEGOLAND Kansas City does offer a fun Cafe area for you to stop for a quick bite to eat. You can easily spend several hours at LEGOLAND and the kids will work up an appetite.

Because of Andrew’s peanut allergy, we weren’t able to taste it out. However, I took a quick peek to see what they had to offer.

The menu offered a few basic options, they also offered family meal options. Inside of the Cafe, I found it to be very clean and well stocked with a LEGO pool for the kids. We were all staring in amazement of how many LEGOs were in there!

Here are a few other photos from our day at LEGOLAND Kansas City Discovery Center

There are many other attractions available at LEGOLAND Kansas City, just too many to list.

If you are in the Kansas City area, this is definitely a fun family activity to do with the children – specially with the hot Summer days ahead of us!
