How Smartphones Document Events in Our Lives

My smartphone has been there to document many events in my life and the lives of my family. After reminiscing through pictures that I found this evening the best event that I captured, other than the growing up of my babies, was my adventure during Black Friday of 2011.

With the changes that many companies made to the opening hours during Black Friday, my husband and I decided to split duties for the maximum shopping effect.

I went to three stores that evening/morning, of course when you get to the store with your list there are impulse purchases that you weren’t intending to buy. My husband and I used our smartphones to take pictures of the sales, items and share them back and forth while making decisions of whether or not to buy something.

If we didn’t have our smartphones, my husband and I probably would have tried to describe the items over the phone while dealing with the frustrations of the crowd. Our smartphones made the Black Friday shopping experience more fun and easier to do.

And of course we needed our smartphones to share the crazy pictures that we took that night!

The phone I have now is my first smartphone. I can’t even imagine how I survived without one before. My fiance and I use ours all the time. I love all the great apps available that make things easier.

I’m with the commenter Nona. I’m beginning to despise all this technology more and more.

I got a smartphone last month. I’m not using it anymore. It made me feel oh so dumb!

I have an android smart phone and although it can frustrate me to no end, it’s also incredibly helpful. I couldn’t live with the telenav (I’m directionally challenged) and being able to send pictures like you did at Christmas comes in very handy.

I plan to get a smartphone when I have the money, though I’ll most likely get a iPhone as I’ve been wanting one for ages.
I’ll be sure to check out that website again when I’m in the position to get a fancier cell phone.
    Thank you!

Biana, would it help to tell you that the guy in the picture was drinking while standing in line?

I do love my smart phone. I love being able to look something up on the internet and not having to wait until I get home on the computer. To me it’s still sort of a luxury item but I have pretty good rate and decent phone.

I wish I could have documented a bunch of the craziness I’ve experienced on my time out lol. But that picture is too funny. Those items are at the opposite ends of the spectrum!

While I don’t have a smart phone, I have used my basic cell phone to send a picture of an item at a store to my husband or sons to see if they like it or not. Both of my sons (26 & 22) have smart phones – 1 has an iPhone, the other an Android-based phone & they use it all the time and if you ask them how they’d get along without them, they’d probably respond that they couldn’t. From taking great pictures to scanning barcodes to check other area stores to see who has the lowest prices, they are handy & I’d love to get one some day!

Smart phones do make life so much easier! I use mine all the time to take pics of notes from school that I don’t want to keep up with, but I need to remember the info. It cuts down so much on paper.

My pone is so old all it does is call people, and I’m TOTALLY happy with that. I think that in today’s society phones are being overused and abused. I’ll take my son to the park to play, and all of the other parents are sitting at the side playing with their phones instead of their children, and it bothers me.

I don’t want a smartphone. If I want to “text” I use the IM on my computer. If I want to take pictures I’ll use my camera. If I want to play angry birds I’ll use my kindle fire, and if I want to call someone I’ll use my phone.
