Home Makeover | Revealing of Amana Kitchen Appliances

white appliances

A few months back I shared with you pictures of my kitchen. The kitchen is the one room in our house that we have been wanting to change for a long time. Our tile floor is too light in color, the grout is cracking, we hated our white appliances, and the counter tops are peeling.

So we started with the first change, our appliances. We have been wanting to change out our appliances to a black and stainless steel color for a while now.

stainless steel stove

We went with a Stainless Steel Amana 4.8 cu ft. Self-Cleaning Electric Range for our stove replacement.

Features:

– 4.8 Cu Ft. Capacity
– (2) 10” 2,500 Watt & (2) 6” 1,200 Watt Ribbon Radiant Elements
– Metal handle
– Easy to touch electronic oven controls
– 2 Oven racks
– 5 Oven rack positions
– Adjustable self cleaning oven
– Extra large oven window
– Automatic oven light
– Electronic clock with timer
– Glass ceramic SpillSaver upswept cooktop with ribbon radiant elements
-  Delay bake oven control
– Storage drawer

stove racks

We had a problem with our previous oven of it being too small. Our extra large pizza pans and cookie sheets would not fit all the way in. Oh, and when it came to holiday entertaining.. forget it! We could barely fit a turkey into our oven.

The first thing I noticed about this Amana 4.8 Cu. Ft. Oven was the size. The installation went so smoothly and fit very comfortably into the same opening of our other stove, however the inside was considerably larger. The oven came with two racks, and because they can be moved into any of the 5 available positions, at Thanksgiving we were able to cook a turkey and a casserole at the same time!

black amana stove top

The top of this stove is beautiful. I love the sleek and shiny black cooktop and found that cleanup was so easy to do. The first night with our stove I cooked spaghetti, left it unattended for a moment and it spilled over onto the cooktop. The SpillSaver feature, raised edges around the sides, kept both the sauce and the boiling water from spilling over the side. Never said I was a good cook :) But thankfully, I didn’t have a huge mess on the floor or counters to clean up!

amana self cleaning range

The controls were very similar to what I was used to on our old stove, with a few extra additions.

One of my school friends had recently experienced a house fire and it happened when her child threw her purse on the stove and accidently turned it on. This terrified me, so I quickly looked into our stove features to see how something like this could be prevented. From the control panel, we found there is a lock option and by pushing that little button in for 3 seconds it will prevent any buttons from being pushed on the panel until you unlock it. While there isn’t an option to lock the knobs for the stovetop, it made me feel better as a mom that prevention can take place at least for the oven. Good ole fashion knob covers for the stove top will have to be used for prevention of turning the cooktop on.

pull out stove drawer

Underneath the stove there is a pull out storage drawer. I think this comes standard with most ranges these days. I found the capacity to be nice and big, large enough to hold several baking sheets, a 9X13 dish and a few muffin pans.

amana appliances

I’m loving the look that is starting to come together in our kitchen and we couldn’t be happier with the selection that was sent to us. Next is the dishwasher, floors, and hopefully counter tops.

Stay tuned for those updates and for our review of the Amana side by side refrigerator!

Those look great. I am a big fan of the stainless steel appliances. I just think they look nice in kitchens. I have a gas stove and love cooking with gas, but my mother is in LOVE with electric and wouldn’t have her appliances any other way. I had not heard of this company before and will keep my eye out for it in the future. Thanks.

I am so jealous, what nice appliances! I’m looking forward to your fridge review. I’m in the opposite position of you – I can deal with our white appliances and tile floor, but I wold give my left arm for new cabinets and countertop!
