Are you gearing up for some good ole fashion holiday entertaining?

Holiday entertaining can take on many forms, such as a cooking decorating party, a Halloween party, a homemade gift making party, ornament decorating party, the possibilities are endless!

If you are looking to bring together a few great friends to celebrate the holidays, here are a few entertaining ideas to help you get started.

  • Candles – Spice candles are my absolute favorite during the winter months. Place them in your kitchen, on the tables, bathrooms, or anywhere around the house. The smell of someone’s house is often my fondest memory when visiting during the holidays, and candles are great at setting the mood for your guests. Cinnamon is my favorite scent, some others include pumpkin spice and fall harvest.

  • Beverages – Set up a small area for beverages to keep your guest’s thirst at bay. You could set up some glasses, a pitcher of water, some eggnog or tea, napkins, and a bucket of ice. A small trash can might be great as well, keeps the mess under control.

  • Meals and Appetizers – The cooking doesn’t need to all be done by you! Make it a pot luck and ask your guests to bring a small side, dessert, or see if they would even be willing to help you prepare the main dish. Other options are to make appetizers in a crock pot, like meatballs, or serve some easy to prepare foods like cheeses, meat platters, fruits, vegetables, and dipping sauces. Pop open a bottle of champagne like Laurent Perrier, sit back and enjoy your company instead of cooking while your guests are there.

Here is a fantastic recipe for Milk Chocolate Café Truffles to use at your Holiday party:

chocolate truffles

Recipe courtesy of Full Time Mama

  • 12 ounces milk chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup International Delight Iced Coffee, any flavor
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • Chocolate sprinkles, cocoa powder, for rolling

Instructions:

Combine together the chocolate, Iced Coffee, and butter. Cook over low heat in a saucepan. Stir the mixture frequently, until the chocolate melts into a smooth consistency.

*Tip* Keep a close eye on the chocolate so it doesn’t burn!

Once done, pour the mixture into a bowl. Scoop up the mixture and begin to roll it into balls, the size is up to you! Then roll each of your chocolate balls in sprinkles, cocoa, or candy.

Place your truffles onto a cookie sheet and then refrigerate until set. This takes about 15 minutes.

Store in the refrigerator when not indulging. Enjoy!
