Guest Blog Post : What Do You Think About The Word Fluff?

Hello!  My name is Toni and I’m a new mommy blogger!  My blog is Toni The Chic Momma and I’m super excited to be a guest blogger for Mommy of Two Little Monkeys today!  I hope you’re having a fabulous Friday!

So, when you hear the word Fluff what do think?  I have to admit that my mind goes straight to thinking about dessert.  I have an outrageous sweet tooth.  When I hear the word Fluff, I think of the fluffiness of the meringue atop a lemon or coconut meringue pie.  When I hear the word Fluff, I think of marshmallow fluff and the decadent fruit dip I make.  When I hear the word Fluff, I also think of the extra fluff I have on my hips from having two babies in the last two years.  However, when many mommas hear the word Fluff, they think of cloth diapers.  Little bums in cloth diapers are affectionately referred to as fluffy bums

Question: How many mommas reading this post right now cloth diaper your little ones?  Surely, there are some of you crunchy mommas out there!

If you’re a lover of all things cloth, I’m sure you’ve heard of the cloth diaper brands bumGenius, Flip and Econobum.  I recently had the privilege of meeting Jennifer Labit, the creator of the previously mentioned cloth diapers.  Jennifer and her husband are the owners of Cotton Babies in Saint Louis, Missouri.  You can read about my recent meeting with Jennifer and other cloth diapering mommas here.  It’s a fun read.

So, back to my question about how many of you cloth diaper your little ones.  I’m so curious to read your responses!  I’m also curious why you chose the cloth diaper route.  Is it a financial reason?  Is it because you like the fact that cloth diapers are more green and eco-friendly?  Did a friend or family member sway you to cloth diaper?  Do you have many friends who cloth diaper?  As you can probably tell, I don’t cloth diaper.  Well, not yet anyway.  So, I’m especially excited to read your answers and hear about your cloth diapering adventures.  Please share with us non-converts!

Well, thank you for stopping by today!  Enjoy your Friday and have a safe, fun weekend!  Please come over and pay me a visit at Toni The Chic Momma sometime soon!

P.S. – Anyone else have the urge to whip up a fluffy coconut meringue pie?

P.P.S – If I ever have the opportunity to be a guest blogger again, I have a really funny story about making meringue.

I have one child (11-months-old) and, initially, my husband and I chose to cloth diaper for the environmental factor. We have relatives who have multiple children and they use disposable diapers. I was flabbergasted at the amount of garbage they produced on a daily basis! I’m not hardcore green, but I do recycle and the city provides compost pickup; seeing how much garbage is reduced by those 2 factors alone opened my eyes to the possibilities of cloth diapering. We researched some more and although the initial financial investment of cloth diapering was quite steep, the overall savings outweighed the initial investment. What really finalized the decision for us was the community of mothers cloth diapering opened to me. I’m a people-person and cloth diapering introduced me to a wonderful community of women (and men) who share many of the same beliefs I hold about the environment, child rearing, etc. and who are so knowledgeable about cloth diapers. The bonus about cloth diapering is the fun accessories like wetbags and different covers and diaper types! I love accessories! Also a bonus was discovering all the great Eco-friendly products for washing and for the body (both baby’s and mine!). I’m the only one of my friends and family who cloth diapers, but I am trying to convert them! BTW: Another use of the word “fluff” or “fluffy” that I have heard is in describing oneself as being the opposite of svelte.
