FX’s Better Things: My Motherhood Experience, In A Show
As much as I’d like to APPEAR like I’m a mother that has it all together, most days I’m far from it. These days it’s so much more about just getting everyone through the day alive and well, than it is about conquering it or winning the mother of the year award. It’s crazy with my mind being pulled in so many different directions. Between working out, actually working, keeping the house together, and keeping the kids calendars and our family calendars straight… I’m a crazy lady! Apparently, however, I’m not alone!
If you’ve found yourself feeling like you’re all over the place on most days, scrambling to keep things together… FX’s Better Things is a show that you aren’t gonna wanna miss. It’s seriously everything about being a mom wrapped into a 10pm EST time slot right there on FX. The sleep deprivation. Feeling overwhelmed. Those moments when you’re to yourself and wonder if you’re doing any of this right… it’s all jam packed in there!
My favorite part of this show is that it’s literally like sitting down with your closest girlfriend and baring your soul. It puts on center stage all of the thoughts and feelings you’d usually keep in your head, for fear of being judged for exposing them. I totally felt like I related with the characters throughout the film.
So, unless you’ve somehow mastered all of the secrets of mommy hood (and if you have, be sure to drop them to me in the comments below), you’ll appreciate this show. Let’s stop trying to fake the funk and just admit it, motherhood is hard. That’s why it’s so important that us super mommies that are just trying to make it stick together! You in? Well, I’ve seen all three episodes already and can’t wait to watch the next one! I love Pamela Adlon. I always watch any show she’s in! I think I can relate to her, and her humor is similar to mine. I learned that they are all named masculine sounding names. “Phil, Sam, Max, Frankie and Duke.” cool! I wonder what the idea was behind that.
