Cold Weather Essentials from Lands End + Twitter Party!

disclosure

The leaves are changing here in Missouri, some quicker than others. See my tree in the background? I think it’s the last one on our block to change colors and fall. It’s so pretty! What’s not pretty is the cooler weather that is following closely behind the falling leaves.

We’ve been lucky with some above average temperatures, until Halloween came. My kids were bundled in layers and we went trick or treating when it was 39 degrees outside! Much too cold for my liking this time of year.

Luckily, I was prepared with my cold weather essentials from Lands’ End.

My closet was looking pretty bare this fall and I haven’t owned a good quality winter coat in years. Being a plus size momma, it is harder to find a coat that doesn’t look like a pillow case and cost as much as a car payment.

The coat I chose from Lands’ End is the Woman’s Plus Size PrimaLoft Ski Jacket. Retails for $179.

I needed something lightweight, yet warm. With temperatures in the single digits, this coat will be perfect as it’s temperature rating is for -5º to +20º. I walked around with my kids on Halloween night for almost 2 1/2 hours, at 39 degrees my comfort level was perfect.

I was also looking for a coat that included a removable hood. Most days a hood isn’t needed, but it’s nice to have one during the colder winter months.

The length is great too! It’s hard to find a coat that isn’t either at the waist or all the way down to your knees. The PrimaLoft Ski Jacket is featured with a shorter front and longer back, making it fashionably pleasing and functional to give you added protection from the wind and cold.

Some other features that were an added bonus for the PrimaLoft Ski Jacket:

  • All weather, waterproof material
  • Plentiful pockets, two for your hands, one on the outside chest and an additional one inside the chest
  • Comes in 3 beautiful colors! Fresh Emerald, Black and Raspberry Wine

To go with my new Lands’ End coat, I also picked out a new pair of gloves and headband. Gotta keep the extremities warm!

The gloves are called Heavenly Fleece EZ Touch Gloves and they are really just that! Heavenly!! Made from fleece that is super soft, these gloves are made to keep your hands snuggly warm. Each glove includes an EZ Touch fingertip on the thumb and index finger, making touch-screens easy to use.

The headband is called a Polartec Aircore 100 Earband. Made from state of the art fleece, your ears will be toasty warm and comfortable.

I’m really excited to finally have a great winter jacket that I can wear anywhere, to the bus stop, a dinner with the family, out for a walk or even just running errands.

Living in South Florida, I am always so envious of everyone’s cold weather photos, especially when it’s still 80+ degrees here in November. Land’s End has some great functional cold weather essentials.

That looks like a super nice coat. I am plus size too and have yet to find a coat I can afford without it being hideous. This is a bit out of my price range at the moment but I will definitely come back in a few weeks when I have the funds. :)

It’s great that most gloves are touch screen friendly now, but I hadn’t seen such comfy and winter practical gloves with the tech friendly feature! My mother adores Land’s End, she has lived all over the country, and never forgets to bring her coat with her!

I LOVE this jacket. I like to be cozy in the winter, but I’m not a fan of big bulky coats.
