Summer Infant Story Time Training Potty Review

training potty

Shopping for your child’s first potty can be an intimidating experience. There are so many styles; some that make sounds, some with toilet paper rolls, and some that are just plain jane.

So how do you know which one to choose?

Most people let the child pick out their first potty and while this is a great idea it can also be a bad one.

I tried this option with my first son and it backfired. The potty was “cool”, made fun sounds, and looked great but the design was bad and he had a bad experience with the little flip cup that blocks urine from shooting straight onto the floor. No explanation needed, right?

So this time around with Andrea, we decided to choose a potty for her. We went with the Summer Infant Story Time Potty.

Here are the features that I love about this potty:

removable collection cup

The collection pot is removable in ONE piece for easy cleaning. There is nothing worse than having to clean a training potty that has several pieces to remove before cleaning. I Love that the training collection pot sides widely across the potty seat and prevents leakage down underneath while the child is going potty.

splash guard

There is a built in splash guard for boys and has no rough edges. Enough said! LOL

Okay so the previous potty seat we tried with Andrew had a cup that flipped up for little boys and flipped down into the potty for little girls. While I thought it was great at first, Andrew had a bad experience with that little cup and delayed his potty training experience.

training seat for big potty

The trainer is removable from the base and will transition onto the big potty.

I love that the Summer Infant Story Time potty is functional through the entire potty training phase. The top will easily remove from the base and sit perfectly onto the big potty seat. Your child still has their comfort zone with the potty, their fun book and sounds and this just makes the transition a little smoother while your child grows big enough to sit alone.

The base of the trainer serves as a foot stool when separated from the top. Little ones don’t like to have their feet dangling while sitting on the potty. By having a foot stool below, it will provide comfort, confidence, and support while your child is learning.

Here is a short clip of the Story Book that is included:

The Summer Infant Story Time training potty is one that I would recommend. This seat has the “cool factor”, the “clean up factor” is perfect, and I really love that this potty will move with her to the big girl potty.

This is a great idea. My daughter picked out her own potty as well. It is a pretty nice potty but I do wish it had a splash guard. She had to learn the hard way how to sit on the potty, and of course I had to clean up the lovely mess. Where can I buy this potty?
