Children’s Swimwear from Lands End | Making the Journey from Florida to California

Spring is in the air! Or at least I think it is. You would never know it was Spring time here in Missouri, one day we are wearing shorts and the next we are pulling out the snow gloves. It’s Spring time somewhere! Lands End sent us some of their children’s swimwear for Andrew to wear on our latest trip to Destin Florida. It was definitely Spring time there in Florida and I couldn’t wait to get there!

I was introduced to Lands End by my mother several years ago. The love started with the monogrammed canvas bags and went from there. Lands End has everything from clothing for the whole family, swim wear, shoes, school uniforms, a great line of home products and more. While I’ve tried many things from Lands End, swimwear was going to be a new experience.

Andrew’s favorite color is blue and he begged for me to pick something blue. Luckily, Lands End has such a wide variety of children’s swimwear and many of the styles come in a selections of colors to choose from.

When looking through the children’s swimwear collection, I was ubber excited to see that the boy’s swim suits all were made with UPF 50 sun protection. Andrew has very fair and sensitive skin, so sun protection and a rash guard were important to us.

We ended up choosing the Lands End Solid Board Shorts for boys’ and Short Sleeve Shark Graphic Rash Guard.

The Lands End Solid Board Shorts comes in 5 basic colors, perfect choices for shopping with a picky child.

  • UPF 50 Sun protection
  • 100% Nylon
  • Mesh Liner
  • Knee Length Coverage
  • Back Elastic Waist with Draw Cord
  • One Cargo Pocket & Back Pocket – features grommets for drainage and a rip grip closure

The sizing indicated that a Medium boys would fit a child who was in 5/6 clothing. Andrew is comfortably in a size 5 and we found this swim suit to be a little baggy. I do want to clarify though, because of the draw cord in the elastic pants, we were able to comfortably tie Andrew’s pants on so he wouldn’t lose his pants in the water.

After 3 days of playing in the ocean, we had no problems with pants coming down, pockets filling up or discomfort. We also found that his swim trunks dried up really quickly, this was nice when walking up to our hotel room.

Since the mediums are made for size 5/6, I can see why it would be baggy on a size 5 child and it makes me happy that he can wear this again next year.

Andrew has always worn a rash guard when swimming. He burns easily and because of the 50 UPF protection, it helps me feel better to know that the rash guard will help me out in my efforts to keep Andrew’s sensitive skin unharmed.

The Lands End Short Sleeve Shark Graphic Rash Guard also comes in a medium for size 5/6 little boy.

  • UPF 50 Sun Protection
  • 82% Nylon/18% Spandex
  • Designed to Dry Quickly When Wet

I’m very pleased with the quality of the children’s swimwear from Lands End. The rashguard and the swim trunks both dried very quickly in the Spring time Florida sun and Andrew was very comfortable. He tells me the best part are the pockets that are included in the front leg and in back, as he can hide his pool treasures in there. We are heading off to California next month and I am confident that this child’s swim suit will hold up through all of the different types of water and washings.
