Britax G3 Pavilion 70 Convertible Car Seat Review
Purchasing a car seat for your child is one of the most important purchases that you will make. There are so many features, designs, sizes, prices, to pick from. But above all of those, safety is at the top of my list.
Britax is known for their safety factors and the rigorous crash testing that takes place at their five Britax testing facilities worldwide. When the new Britax G3 Pavilion Convertible Car Seat came out this year I was super excited to review the new features.
The HUGS Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology is a brand new feature in the G3 Convertible Car Seats from Britax. The Chest Pads are attached to the car seat straps with a strap that runs along the backside of the straps and through the car seat shell. They work to help reduce the amount of impact that your child receives in a car accident with the SafeCell technology.
While the HUGS Chest Pads are attached to the car seat straps, the process to loosen the straps will need to be done a little differently.
Normally you would push on the harness adjuster and pull the straps away from your child. Because of the attached HUGS Chest Pads, you will now push on the harness adjuster and grab from the chest clip and pull outward.
It took me a little bit of adjusting to figure this method out, however; the Britax website was very helpful in helping me figure out how to do this properly.
The other new feature in the Britax G3 Pavilion 70 Car Seat is the EZ-Buckle System. I’m really enjoying this feature!
Behind the car seat buckle there is an attachment that works to move the buckle forward when it’s not being used.
How many times have you dug your hands under the child’s butt to find their car seat buckle?
I’ve done this hundreds of times and this new feature has kept the buckle out from underneath Andrea, every single time. Such a little feature, but oh so handy to have.
There are so many great features of the Britax G3 Pavilion Car Seat, it’s built with safety that you can see and convenience features to help mom and dad.
For instance, the Quick Adjust, No-Rethread Harness. By grabbing onto the “Pavilion 70 G3” handle at the top of the car seat, you can easily raise or lower the harness without disassembling the straps.
My husband and I both are in love with the Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator.
I don’t know how many times Andrea has been put into her car seat for me to check it and see that my husband didn’t make it snug enough. The Click & Safe feature is an audible click that will sound while you are tightening your child’s harness. When you hear the click, this tells you that the harness is within a range of appropriate snugness.
Did you know?
A study released by the NHTSA revealed that 59% of child harnesses were too loose. Loose harness straps leave your child vulnerable to injury during a crash because they may allow your child to move out of position; they can even lead to ejection from the child seat during a crash.
I’m extremely pleased with the Britax G3 Pavilion 70 Convertible Car Seat. The instructions were clear to follow, the install was so easy that I don’t mind having to uninstall it if needed, the newly added safety features give me the added confidence that this car seat isn’t just a list of promised safety features. Being able to see the features and how they will help my child in a crash is immeasurable.
With the 70 Lb weight limit, I know that Andrea can sit safely in this car seat until she is ready for a booster seat. The Britax G3 Pavilion 70 Car Seat is going to be getting a lot of good use, good thing it’s comfortable to sit in!

I both learned and liked this piece of information: Britax has a line of car seats that they design specifically for children with special needs through the branch in their company called Snug Seats. I like that they are helping families going through challenges and it’s nice to think that knowing that they can get a car seat for their child with special needs, it takes one worry away.
Very cool that they have a fitting guide to make sure you get a seat that fits your child!

I learned that during a crash, the SafeCells on the back side of the HUGS Chest pads assist in reducing forward movement of your child by adding friction to the harness against your child’s chest as they move forward. Additionally, the SafeCells compress to further manage energy, reducing the risk of head injury.

I learned that Booster seats differ from a harnessed car seat in that a booster seat, by definition, simply “boosts” the child up so that the vehicle seat belt is positioned correctly across the child’s hips and shoulder/middle of the chest. Booster seats rely on the vehicle seat belts to hold both the child and the booster seat in position.
I like the britax strollers. IT’s great they have a wheel board for them now.
I learned some of their convertible carseats can hold up to 70 lbs- that’s a great weight range! Saves money when you only have to buy one seat instead of several as your child grows.

Something I love at Britax is the B-Agile Double Stroller! I’d love to have it! It’s only 28 lbs. I think the double I have now weighs 37!!
We were not able to buy Britax with our kids but now have lil’ grandkids and researching a lot. Britax seems to be THE name in baby gear. I have been looking for a stroller for my daughter to use for her lil’ guy, and the Britax B Agile is the one that looks to rate really high for manueverability. I’d love to get one for her!

I didn’t know that they made car seats for children up to 120 lbs! That’s the highest weight limit I have ever seen…makes me think I should get one for myself, too, lol!

I learned more about the HUGS chest pads. A big improvement over the Marathon 70 I own now.
I learned about the HUGS chest pads and that are designed to compress in a crash and manage energy to reduce the amount of impact forces experienced by your child. That sounds like an amazing idea to me.
Our daughter is about to out grow her infant seat, we’d love the Marathon for her.

I like britax strollers and car seats. They have great lines and I like the fact that this car seat goes up to 70 pounds along with all the safety features.
Something I like about britax is the anchors, they are different and seems more secure than the other brands/makers. I also like the clip guard.

I love all of the features of this carseat especially the fact that it covers up to 70 pounds. I am going to have to look into the convertible carseats more since out little guy just turned three months and is 26.5 inches long and 17 pounds.

They have a registry give away, well and they have a what’s new section with some of their newest innovations. We currently have both a Britax and a Diono convertible seats and reading up made me feel better about our choices.
