The 4th of July is one of my favorite Holidays! I love that it’s all about eating, fun, family, and blowing things up (and you don’t have to buy anyone gifts). This year is even better, since the 4th of July falls on a Friday. The party can last as long as you like, without worries of waking up for work in the a.m. What are your 4th of July plans? If you’re celebrating the 4th of July in Kansas City 2014, I’ve rounded up a list of fun ways to celebrate!

7 of The Best Festivities for 4th of July in Kansas City 2014

KC July 4th Riverfest

Hop on over to Berkley Riverfront park for a night of fun, fireworks, and live entertainment. This event will run from 4pm – 11pm. Admission is $5 and children 12 and under are free. EARLY BIRD SPECIAL: Free admission for all between 4:00pm – 5:00pm. This event is located downtown, so be sure to check the website to plan your parking and travel in advance.

Parkville 4th Of July Celebration

Every year Parkville puts on an awesome 4th of July celebration, and this year is no exception. This event located on Main Street will actually last from July 2nd – July 5th, with fireworks and vendors on the 4th of July and a carnival throughout. Check out the designated page for specific times on the events, so you won’t miss out on anything!

Worlds Of Fun

True to tradition, World’s of Fun’s firework display will begin at 10pm. While some like to watch from 435 E, I won’t recommend it as this can be dangerous. Nevertheless, the firework show begins at 10pm!

Star Spangled Spectacular – Overland Park

For my readers in the southland, Overland Park is throwing the biggest 4th of July event in the KC Metro area located in Corporate Woods. You’ll find everything from vendors and food trucks, to live entertainment and fireworks. This event is more than just fireworks, it’s about community togetherness and fellowship!

The Big Bang

Jackson County is hosting a “Big Bang” celebration at Longview Lake Shelter #13. Gates open at 5:30pm and the celebration kicks off at 6:30pm with a free concert. Fireworks begin at 9:30pm, and admission is free. There will be games and concessions available for purchase!

Booms and Blooms Fest at Powell Gardens

One of the best fireworks displays in KC is at Powell Gardens. Dazzling day lilies, inspiring music, cool treats and sizzling fireworks are on deck for Booms & Blooms on Thursday, July 3 (rain date is July 5th)

$12/adults; $10/seniors; $5/children ages 5-12.

Children under 5 get in FREE.

Festival admission includes all day access to the Gardens including the Heartland Harvest Garden and the Nature Connects exhibition, parking, trolley/tram service and performances.

Freedom Celebration

Greenwood’s Park and Recreation is hosting their Freedom Celebration event on June 28th, located at Hitt Park. There are rides and games for kids of all ages. Local vendors are on site as well as a car show and live music. Fireworks display will start shortly after sunset.
